Croissant French Toast

One of the favorite breakfast offerings over the years is our baked French toast.  I published the recipe in my cookbook years ago. I recently decided to modify it a little bit by substituting the French bread with small croissants and the white corn syrup with Grand Marnier for a little orange flavor. It has gotten rave reviews from the guests.  This recipe is great for a group and it's make the night

To good time with great food!

Patty

Ingredients:

8 small croissants each cut into two pieces

2/3 cup firmly packed light brown sugar

2/3 stick of butter, softened

2 teaspoons Grand Marnier liquour

3 eggs

1/3 cup milk

1/2 teaspoons vanilla

Instructions:

Combine brown sugar, softened butter and Grand Marnier.  Press into the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish.

Place croissant pieces on top of the brown sugar mixture.  Beat eggs with milk and vanilla.  Pour over the bread, cover and refrigerate overnight.

BAke at 350 degrees in preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, until golden brown.

This dish creates its own syrup while baking and also freezes well. Thaw completely prior to baking.
