Your Guide to Planning a 4-Day Road Trip From D.C.
Day 1 Stop - Richmond, VA
We recommend breaking up your four-day road trip from D.C. Although Richmond is only two hours away from D.C., it’s a fantastic place to stop, especially after dealing with the inevitable traffic in the nation’s capital. There is plenty of great lodging in town, but we recommend The Berkeley Hotel. This boutique hotel features plenty of luxurious amenities in its rooms and has on-site dining options. You can also find an array of excellent restaurants and bars within walking distance throughout the downtown area. If you to stretch your legs and take a breath of fresh air, head to the beautiful riverfront setting of Belle Isle, which is about a 30-minute walk from the hotel.
Day 2 Stop - Latta, SC
Day two of your four-day road trip from D.C. takes you through North Carolina on your way to the Palmetto State and our beautiful and historic Inn. Abingdon Manor is the perfect place to recuperate and prepare yourself during a road trip. Make a reservation at our elegant dining room, where you can treat yourself to a prix fixe gourmet dinner. Day 3 Stop - Savannah, GA
Continue your four-day road trip from D.C. south on I-95 for three hours to Savannah, Georgia. The many squares, cemeteries, and mansions throughout this historic town ooze with Southern charm. We recommend savoring an array of Southern flavors for lunch at The Olde Pink House and take a tour of St. Bonaventure cemetery. Then drive another two hours and 45 minutes to St. Augustine where you can stay the night at one of our recommended hotels, Casa Monica.
Day 4 Stop - St. Augustine, FL
The oldest city in the country is the final stop of your four-day road trip from D.C. St. Augustine has plenty of beautiful architecture and history, and but the top attraction here is Castillo de San Marcos. You can easily spend a couple of hours exploring this monument along with the fun and lively city center.
